BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) – The Virginia Tech community is coming together after a threat to kill all Muslims was found in a campus bathroom.
Tuesday night on the drill field, students gathered to stand united against hate – and take steps to meet people different from themselves. Virginia Tech’s President, Dr. Tim Sands, spoke during the event. He expressed frustration over separation of communities at the university.
Dr. Sands said he hopes students and the community will work together to put differences aside and talk about diversity. Sands asked Hokie Nation to go out of their way to get to know people with varying backgrounds.
The event’s Facebook page said, “It is time for us to come together. We stand in solidarity because we are not afraid of our diversity.”
Virginia Tech police are investigating last week’s threat.
