MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WSMV) – Eight months ago, they were caught on camera wrapping bacon around door handles of the Murfreesboro mosque.
On Saturday, the two vandals stood before the congregation to say, “I’m sorry.”
The two young men wound up shaking hands and hugging the Muslim community members.
“I’ve lived regret every day of my life since I stepped foot on your property,” said Thomas Gibbs.
“I would never want anyone to feel unwelcome in their place of worship,” said Stout. “I hope someday you guys can forgive me.”
And the Islamic community was happy to give it.
“I think those young men did not know any better before committing their act last July,” said Dr. Saleh Sbenaty. “They learned something new today.”
